5 things to remember to make sure you and your family don't fall under the weather while you're abroad.
Sunburn - according to a survey by the British Association of Dermatologists, 72% of people admitted to having been sunburned in the previous year.
Mosquito bites - Use sprays to try and prevent getting bites, sometimes it's just inevitable. If you do get stung apply anti-itch cream, and wash it with soap and water and place a cold compress on it to reduce any swelling and redness.
Hayfever - Spain the pollen counts usually lessen after July, and Portugal and the Canary Islands are usually a safe bet too. France can be a good place to visit, but cities like Paris, the south of France and the French Riviera can have high pollen counts.
Food poisoning - Tips for avoiding food poisoning depending on where you're going include; Use bottled water, Eat freshly and thoroughly cooked food that is still piping hot, Avoid salad or anything that has been washed unless you know the water is safe, Be careful with fish and shellfish as this can be particularly problematic.
Protect your eyes - Over-exposure to the sun can damage your eyes so always pack a pair of sunglasses. Never look directly at the sun and look for the CE Mark and British Standard.
